Quick post for today before I head out! I can’t help myself when I see something pretty and cute. I happen to be the innocent bystander, who just happened to walk by a bunch of cross body bags at Odel and then this cobalt blue one happened to call my name. Yeah I know, these things happen and I need to control myself but there was this discount and some percentage off sale and oh well, I felt sorry for the poor guy and I bought it home.
How cute is this? I just had to have it! My goal after my last clothing haul was not to purchase anything else buttt… I kind of strayed…. badly! So I got this at the store for Rs. 1,500 which I thought was a pretty good buy. It’s the ideal size for travel and to hold few essentials when out and about so I’m planning on taking it with me to Saudi.
The inside has a divider which allows for two separate spaces to hold items. No pockets what so ever but I don’t mind it. It’s made of the thinnest sort of soft leather which I also love. Overall I think it was a good buy and I’m happy with it 😀
Yay for Friday! My personal Friday casuals this week is a lovely navy blue and white print dress from Mondy paired with leggings from India and a nude cardigan from Odel. I love casual outfits like these because I am also able to do a bit of shopping and run errands. The dress is super comfortable and the light cardigan is super soft.
Oh yeah, September has been a month of reviewing products! I received this beautiful perfume gift set and didn’t try out until a few weeks ago. The Guerlain La Collection Aqua Allegoria is known to be a continuously renewed collection that pays homage to the wonders of nature and beautiful raw materials. According to the main website, it includes delicate and cheerful fragrances that represent sweet and happy moments. Each spring, a new limited-edition Aqua Allegoria joins the four legendary permanent creations.
Let me start off by saying that the packaging is too cute for words. I just love mini gift sets like this because extra attention to detail turns out to be beautiful. Sticking to the wonders of nature, there’s plenty of green images added to the front look of the collection whereas the back of it showcases the four little bottles that is included in it. The bee motif is something that is highlighted in the outer package of each bottle in the colour that represents the individual fragrance. The top of the bottle itself also features the bee motif as well as the honeycomb in gold. The bad side of this bottle is that it is a bit difficult to open and I do not like the missing spray feature. Instead what it holds is a glass needle sort of feature that dips into the fragrance and you have to use to apply onto the neck or wrist. Not my favourite thing to do.
Here’s a comprehensive description of the four fragrances that came in my mini gift set:
Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca: A real herbal green scent. It begins with the very green and citrusy top note of clover leaf – a lovely good-luck charm – and Italian lemon. Its heart is composed of spearmint and green tea. The very floral dry-down reveals lily of the valley, cyclamen and pear flower.
Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune: One of the beacon grapefruit renditions in the whole of perfumery. Pamplelune opens with citrusy notes of vibrant and velvety grapefruit accompanied by bergamot. Its energetic heart features the unusual pairing of neroli and petit grain married with blackcurrant bud. Its dry-down reveals an extreme sensuality thanks to the presence of patchouli and vanilla. A proud survivor, it’s still in production.
Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Bianca: All the marvels of the bitter orange tree are united here: flowers, fruits and branches. Top notes feature bitter orange essence and petite grain extracted from the branches. At the heart, the flower reveals the essence of neroli and orange blossom absolute. The enveloping base succumbs to white musk, white amber and cedar wood.
The Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Flora Rosa is a relatively new fragrance that was introduced last year. Nothing about this fragrance turns up on the main website which is quite a disappointment. This was however a limited edition release which is probably why it doesn’t show up but anyhow, it is a fresh and lively interpretation on the rose blossom, Jean Paul Guerlain’s favourite flower, and is boosted by other floral anchoring notes to give it duration and depth. Top note is red berries; middle notes are rose and iris; base note is musk.
I’ve tried and tested all four and I have to admit I’m more of a citrus-y fragrance type of person so the Pamplelune lands first place amongst the four. The least favourite would have to be the Nerolia Bianca quite sadly because the bitterness of the fragrance hits stronger than the others.
Have you tried anyone of these fragrances or others introduced by Guerlain? Do let me know in your comments below 🙂
Gonna take pride in featuring my OPI Nordic Collection minis as my weekly snap. I ordered this last month and I’m super happy that it came in the mail before I left the country. Yay for express shipping!
The colours in this mini collection includes My Dog Sledge is a Hybrid (a turquoise blue green shade), Do You Have This Colour in Stock-Holm (a grape like purple shade), My Voice is a Little Norse (a glitter shade) and lastly How Great is your Dane (a taupe brown shade).
2014 has been a year for experimenting with lip products and I must say I have found some holy grail favourites as well as some awful ones I will NOT ever be using. Today I’ll be reviewing the NYX Cosmetics Xtreme Lip Cream in Candy Land. I always pick just one colour when I am first trying out a new product just in case the texture isn’t right or the smell, or something! I happened to pick Candy Land which is quite a bright-like pink so here’s what I think about it:
Unlike the Soft Matte Lip Creams that have a super creamy texture, this one is actually creamy too but possibly slightly runnier. I don’t know how else to describe the texture because it did feel just like that upon application. Pigmentation is top knotch! I had to be pretty careful when applying this because you do not want to get an overload of the colour. The colour pay-off is a tad deeper than shown on the tube however even though I don’t know how that’s possible. Maybe that’s just because my lips are naturally pigmented.
Do NOT expect these to smell as cake batter like. This absolutely STINKS and totally put me off the minute I applied it on my lips. Something really has to be done about it because it totally put me off and I do not ever want to buy another colour in this range ever!!!! If I had to describe the smell I’d have to say its very plastic-y. Not something you’d want anywhere on your body.
Value for money – Yes
Colour pigmentation and pay-off – Amazing
Choice of colour in the range – Quite good
Fragrance – YUCK
Will I purchase again – HECK NO!
I wouldn’t repurchase it simply because the smell is a total put off. It really makes a huge difference when it smells awful and like I said, I do not want it anywhere on my body. Thankfully, the Soft Matte Lip Creams work waaaay better!
I’ve got a couple more product reviews coming up so if you like reading these types of posts, give it a thumbs up and leave a comment below! Thanks and have a great day everyone xoxo!
Recently I’ve been doing a lot of shopping for clothes, also because I’m leaving for Hajj in a matter of two weeks, and I need a couple of staple pieces to take with me. Amidst all of that, I have also been buying some extra clothing pieces to wear when I get back because… well, because I just can’t help myself! I used to shop a LOT at Odel but of late I have been going to Cotton Collection a hell of a lot as well my other favourite store Mondy. So I’ll be showing you guys some of the clothing items I got 😀
I can’t help myself when I come across cotton pants. I got four of the same type in different colours simply because they are too soft and comfortable when worn. They are also a loose fit so I will be taking these with me to Saudi. Here’s a closer look: (oh please don’t mind the crease!)
I got these pants from Cotton Collection for just about Rs. 1,600 each which I think is a really good price for something that’s super soft, comfortable and easy on the eyes.
I love shopping at Mondy simply because they have a good understanding of body types and sizes unlike some of the other stores. Their clothes always fits so well on me and looks just as great which is why I continue going there. Here’s a look at what I got from there:
I don’t own anything in this shade so I knew I had to have it the moment I saw it. Plus, I did purchase two palazzo pants some time back and I thought this would really go well with one of them. It’s got cute frill detail on the shoulders, a little pocket highlighted with a black rim and more detail on the back that you can pull back and tie into a bow. It’s unfortunately got like the longest ever sleeves but I plan to fold them over a couple of times when wearing them so that it does not look sloppy on me. This retails for about Rs. 2,000-2,600.
The one of the right is another I got from Mondy whilst the left and one in the middle are gifts from my mum who took a trip to India a few weeks ago and bought them at my favourite store – Global Desi. All three have unique prints on them which I love and can be worn for different ocassions. I do not know how much the tops from India retail for but the blue and white from Mondy retails between Rs. 1,800-2,400.
My husband and I took a quick trip down south over the weekend. I know it’s not much to blog about but I actually had a great time and captured a few images I wanted to share. The town of Beruwala is located roughly about an hour away from Colombo. It is actually my hometown in the sense that its my father’s birthplace.
The town area is quite small to be honest and the best part is mainly the beachside and the hotels nearby. Almost every other person you meet would possibly be a gem merchant or trader of sorts because that’s typical of the people living there. My family and I have been also visiting the main grand mosque every year during special occasions – Kechchimalla Mosque
I do not know much about the history of the mosque on a personal note but inside there is a framed copy of an article written about the history so you should check that out if you happen to visit. I should add that you need to be properly dressed to enter the mosque. No outfits that are short and showy and the head must be covered with a shawl or scarf.
There isn’t much to do in this part of the south but you will find plenty of little boutique hotels and resorts lined up one after the other which are often frequented by foreigners and locals too.
