There were newbies out by ALKE a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t help myself…. so I bought three new necklaces 😀
What I really like about this handmade jewellery site is that the items can be personalised, making them one of a kind. The owner is a close friend of mine which also makes things a lot easier for me. I have been finding it difficult to get long length necklaces for myself and so she customised a few pieces to suit my taste. Take a look!
All three beautiful pieces costed me a total of Rs. 1,700 which is pretty darn decent. Surprisingly, my husband (who does not like costume jewellery and anything of that sort) loves all three of these pieces as well (yay me :D).
Too many obsessions this month I tell you! Here’s yet another review of an Essie polish I have been loving in April.
Using My Maiden Name is not a 2015 collection polish but is a part of a previous year’s bridal collection. It is described as a pretty blue hydrangea shade which also has a bit of iridescence to it.
As I’ve said before, application is pretty simple and straightforward. Two coats does the trick to reach full opacity. The thin brush applicator makes it easy to apply well on the corners of the nails.
I think personally this is a shade one could wear every spring and even summer regardless of when it was released because it is a fun yet pretty colour on the nails. You need to necessarily wear it while you walk down the aisle but even for a casual day to day occasion.
New buy! Yes it’s quite obvious I’m obsessed with NYX Cosmetics but let me just say that they do have great quality products for decent prices. Who can say no to that?
For those of you who love a pop of colour on an everyday basis Whipped Caviar is actually a good choice. I just happened to pick it by fluke and love the effect it haa on my lips and look. I’ve never owned a colour like this so it’s really hitting off really well.
This shade is from the matte lipstick range so the formula is a little rougher than the creamy round lipsticks. It is easy to apply but do make sure your lips are exfoliated well before. Otherwise you’ll notice that the cracks do seem more apparent upon application.
As for how long it lasts, I’d say a couple of hours before you need a light touch up.
Would I purchase more shades? Definitely!
My weekly snap is my latest book purchase and I can’t wait to get reading!
Have you read it? If so, please let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
I was going to post a review of a matte lipstick I recently purchased but instead here is a repost of something that caught my attention and I thought I should share.
A faulty birthmark, an over-ripe looking pimple or scar can cause people to react in different ways and for some it has become a real issue. While they continue to look at these marks, they begin to pick at their face. I’m talking about with just their fingers or nails but with other objects like toothpicks, tweezers, nail files, paper clips and so on.
This article is about how the obsession turned into something deeper and far worse for one girl. Please read it and be aware of the consequences of your small actions. Your face is yours to deal with but imperfections are what make you unique. Learn to embrace it and live with it as best you can instead of picking at it and making things worse.
I’m back after a two week hiatus to India! I gotta say, it was quite an amazing experience traveling from one city to another and I’ve so many wonderful pictures to share with all you, but of course I’ll leave that for another post. Right now I’m going to be talking about another spring trend I’ve seen pop up literally everywhere including India and right here at home in Sri Lanka and that is the romantic bohemian trends.
I find that this particular trend is somewhat a fusion of prints and textures and that’s something I like a lot. My closet and clothing is pretty much a combination of 80% prints and textures so yeah..!
I find that loose tops are a great part of a bohemian look and the white top with blue embroidery work is something I bought myself while shopping in India at one of my favourite stores in Global Desi. It’s actually kind of a long dress with an asymmetrical bottom which I absolutely love. What makes this trend so special and unique is that you can mix and match items you probably already own in your closet and just make it work. A baggy long tee can be used to create a bohemian look if you just team it up with some long beaded necklaces, a tassle handbag and perhaps a hair adornment to complete it. All you gotta do is make it work!
Bold and bright colours are a must as you can see, so dig in deep in your closet for the brightest items of clothing you’ve got. Let’s also not forget the accessories. Accessories make such a huge difference when paired well with an outfit so choose yours wisely to complete your romantic bohemian look.
When it comes to makeup, I think it’s best to keep a subtle look because you’ve already got a lot going on when it comes to your outfit but occasionally I suppose if you keep things light, then you could amp up your makeup.
Smokey eyes and eyeliners in bright bold colours are a huge rave so think out of the box when playing with your makeup. Your nails can be given the same kind of treatment; you can play with pastel shades or go with bright hues.
Outfit I wore yesterday when I met up with my besties for lunch:
Top – Suvidha, India
Jeans – Kelly Felder
Shoes – Payless, Medina
Scarf – India
Bag – H&M, Malaysia
Got my hands on this newbie at The Body Shop in Mumbai. I’ll be posting a review of the body sorbet soon so stay tuned!
Started raining lightly in Mumbai this evening and here’s a snap I managed to capture of an old colonial styled house.
I know this doesn’t count for a blog post but it’s something that caught my eye and I loved immediately. Hope you all like it too 🙂
Throwback to a few days ago when my husband and I visited a majestic palace in the city of Jaipur. I’m completely amazed by the stunning architecture and grandeur of this palace that was home to a king and queen for generations. The Ambar Palace is located some 30 minutes away from the main city and is surrounded by the Ambar Fort which reminds me of the Great Wall of China.
