Lemongrass Body Scrub review

You all should know by now that I have a teeny obsession with body scrubs and shower gels that are all natural. Teeny might not describe it all that well, but who cares 😛 I visited the Saturday Good Market last weekend with a good friend of mine and although the whole event was coming to an end I managed to snag this from an all organic and natural products stall. I should have stayed away but…

I’m also a sucker for scents and this one smells super ahhh-mazing! The lady at the stall just opened the tub for a whiff and that was pretty much all it took for me to say “Okay, I’m getting that!”. So yes, the body scrub is made of all natural and organic ingredients produced and made in Sri Lanka. This scrub in particular includes aloe, sea salt, clay and of course lemongrass essence. You can literary see the sea salt in the scrub which actually surprised me.

So far I’ve just tried it on my arms and I do love the sea salt and aloe working themselves on my skin. I did not however think all that much about how my skin felt and also smelt afterwards. There was not much of a lemongrass scent on my skin which left me feeling a little disappointed and also, my skin did not feel all too soft and supple.

The tub costed Rs. 1,000 which is pretty darn decent but I do not think it’s something I’d repurchase or recommend to anyone simply because I do not see it showing any results after one use.

Organisational DIY’s

Sometimes I tend to do things without realizing. Like organising. Yes, I organise my things without me realising and I actually quite like it when it happens. I noticed the other day I had organised a few bits and bobs and thought I should share the tips with you all.

I had this little rectangular basket in one of the bathroom cupboards. I didn’t realise that I had stored all my little sample tit bits and travel sized lotions, hand creams and shower gels in it. So here’s a step by step guide as to how I re-organised them just for you all to see. Oh, I’ve got a mini candle in there too, a face exfoliating thing (I think I’ve used it only once or twice), an extra travel toothbrush, hand sanitizer, a soap bar and a tub of Vaseline. I find that they all fit inside quite well and was easily stored without looking too shabby.

Now, this I know I put together with a lot of thought because I do value all the products I’ve bought and also received by Spa Ceylon. Yes, I have quite a few things and yes, I do use nearly each and every one of them. On the far right I’ve placed all the hair care products in this floral jewellery holder. The middle includes all the foot care products like my favourite foot mist with peppermint! The left holds the two foot soak tubs and the centre front part holds travel sized shower gels, a body scrub and a compress which I am yet to use with one of the bath and body oils.

Now this is something I’ve made use of instead of just hoarding it somewhere in my closet. I got a gift set from Victoria’s Secret and the products came in this vibrant pink heart-shaped case. Once the products were used up, I didn’t quite know what to do with it so here’s how I’ve organised a few other essentials of mine. I’ve got an extra face scrub in there along with a scented candle (lavender my favourite!), my L’Oreal eyes and lips makeup remover, and my lavender bath salts. See how pretty they look, all organised together 🙂

I hope this somewhat gave you all an idea as to how every day items can be used to organise other bits and bops around your space.

The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Body Scrub review

This has definitely been a year for trying out body scrubs of all sorts and fragrances for me. I ain’t complaining, I’ve loved trying out so many and have come to really love some of them. Earlier this year, I was dying over the Body Shop Blueberry Body Scrub which was sadly a limited edition product. I wanted to eat it the moment I opened the tub because it smelt so damn good. This one’s nearly as good.

The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Body Scrub is made nearly the same way the blueberry one was, as in it has a very gel like gooey consistency. I love this about the scrub. I don’t like it being too heavy and harsh and as a gel scrub, it’s very light and easy to lather all over the body and then get on to the scrubbing.

Now to be quite honest, I do not know what actually Argan oil smells like but in the form of this scrub, woaaaah it’s beautiful! Yes, I said beautiful. It’s the kind of fragrance that settles between a nut and a flower in my opinion. I don’t know if that makes sense to any of you, because reading back it doesn’t make any sense to me but you kind of get the gist of it right? Hope so!

I love lathering this on because of its cool gel-ness. You can also tell the oil really does it job as you start scrubbing all over and the grains get working. There is an afterglow people, yes afterglow and it just makes you want to just stay in the shower and use it all over again. I’m very careful with this one because I don’t want to finish it too soon like the last one. Thankfully I did get myself two but…. I’m still careful. At night, I head over to the bathroom, open up the scrub tub and take a whiff of it simply because the fragrance is so unique and lovable.

As for it’s ingredients and whatnots, you know how the Body Shop works and you know they only use natural organic ingredients. This one is a sure keeper. I’ve also got the shower gel in the same range but somehow I’m not in love with that as much as the scrub. I dunno what it is though but oh well!

I bought my stash of Body Shop in Saudi but you can buy yours online in the US and UK.

If you’ve tried this, let me know what you think of it in the comments below! Xoxo

Face, body and foot scrub
Face, body and foot scrub

So… here’s the thing; everyone uses a scrub of some sort on some part of their body right? A face scrub, a body scrub and possibly a foot scrub too, so I was thinking of creating a tag where bloggers talk about their favourite types in one post. I’ve never created a tag before and I don’t even know if such a tag already exists but I do want to talk about my favourites so here goes 😀

Face Scrub

I’m a huge Clean & Clear fan so my favourite face scrub is the Morning Burst Facial Scrub. This is an oil-free scrub that comes with bursting beads, and not only actually wakes you thanks to its fruity aroma but also exfoliates and nourishes with vitamin c and ginseng. I don’t use it on a daily basis although it does claim it is ideal for daily use. I actually prefer using it on alternative days just to allow my skin to breathe occasionally. The first week I used this product, I noticed a drastic change in my skin. It looked fresh and bright after just three uses and I love that it leaves my face smelling all fruity too. The back description continues to say this formula gets rid of dullness and tired looking skin to reveal softer and more radiant skin and I for one can definitely vouch for that because it works on my skin. The formula is really not too thick and heavy so a little bit is really all I need to scrub on to my face. I generally focus on my nose, cheeks and chin because those are my problem areas and after a couple of uses, my face does show a great difference.

Body Scrub

This one is a new favourite but I can say for sure that it would remain the same for a long time. I recently discovered The Body Shop Limited Edition Blueberry Body Scrub Gel. I know it’s not available any longer and I’m totally upset with myself for not having purchased more because I am totally in love with this scrub. It’s got the most amazing texture that is a combination between a typical body scrub and a shower gel. I don’t know if that makes any sense but if you’re someone who has tried this out, you’ll definitely understand what I’m trying to say. Second reason why I love this is purely because of the fruit blueberry fragrance. I wasn’t a huge fan of blueberries but one whiff of this and I was totally hooked. I use this very sparingly because I don’t want to finish it but if you really want a good all-over-the-body scrub, you do have to be a little generous with the amount you take out. It includes little blueberry seeds that exfoliate well and leave your body feeling soft, fragrant and clean.

Foot Scrub

My go-to foot scrub with always remain a local favourite and that is the Spa Ceylon Green Mint Cooling Foot Scrub. I honestly believe that there is nothing to beat this product because it is made of all natural ingredients including lime peel to help remove rough patches on the feet, peppermint and lemongrass to cool and refresh, margosa and virgin coconut oil to nourish, soothe and relax. I do not think there is any other foot scrub out there that includes all these amazing ingredients and does and amazing job. I like to use the scrub after a foot soak (I also use the Spa Ceylon Green Mint Reviva Foot Soak) and give my feet a good relaxing session every once in a while. The aroma is divine and I am a sucker for green mint and lemongrass so this is more than ideal for someone like me. Most of all, I love that my feet are squeaky clean, refreshed and fragrant all day after I use it.

I’m also tagging some the fellow bloggers I follow to share their favourites and maybe even continue the tag 🙂

Comment below and let me know what your three favourite scrubs are! 😀

In love with blueberries ♥

I don’t like usually like trying out new fragrances and that goes for body scrubs and whatnots with different fragrances than I am familiar with. However when my mum handed over this tub of the Body Shop Blueberry Body Scrub I thought I’d just give it a whiff for the sake of it before passing it onto someone else.

Omg the fragrance is to die for! The minute I opened the tub, I was literally hooked. We don’t get blueberries in my country and I must be frank enough to say I don’t even know what they really smell like but I’m assuming it’s like this tub. It’s a heavenly berry tone kind of fragrance that gives me the tingles every time I open the tub and to me, it’s truly worth it – that conclusion made waaay before I even tried it during a shower.

So its got this grainy texture that every body scrub does but it’s also not as buttery, more gel like kind of texture. The scrub also has blueberry extracts and seeds which can also be seen in the above picture if you take a closer look. I decided to give it a go and quite sparingly used it because it is a limited edition product but my husband said that the entire bathroom was filled with a blueberry fragrance once I was done so it’s good to know the fragrance travels and does linger. Btw it does a great job as an exfoliater too.

I’m obsessed with this and keep reopening the lid just to smell the yummy fruityness. I have a feeling I’m going to end up ordering another just so that I don’t miss this when it’s over. For $20, I’d say it’s truly worth the price you pay and oh hey…aren’t there summer deals at this time of the year? I’ll probably be able to get these on sale so yay me!
