I participated in the Colombo Flea Market today and here are a couple of snaps:
Sold pretty much 50% of everything I took and donated the rest to the welfare society. I actually feel lighter and better now that I’ve given away stuff I do not use or wear anymore. Was certainly a good experience and will probably participate next time as well.
This weekend I thought I’d arrange my jewellery organizer (particularly the one that holds my earrings). I know I haven’t done anything of this sort before so I thought I’ll feature some of my favourite vintage earrings in one post. Hope you all like it!
This is a pair I bought online and I absolutely love. I actually had forgotten about this cute pair until a few days when I was looking for a small pouch and found this pair inside. I can’t believe I forgot all about it because a few years these were the only pairs I’d wear on a regular basis but oh well, I’m glad I found them anyways. They are exactly how starfish are, with the grainy texture and all that and work well with most of my basic every day looks which is why I wore them pretty much all the time.
Now this is a pair I got at Forever21, in New York two years ago. I still love it because it has a timeless look to it and can be paired with almost any evening outfit. It’s black and gold but not overly shiny or anything of the sort which is another plus for me because I do not like overly shiny pieces of jewellery.
This is another one of my most favourite pairs and also another one I got online. I love tiny pairs like this with tons of detail. This almost has an ethnic tribal vibe to it but the colour and make make it ideal to pair with even a modern contemporary outfit. I love pairing this with an evening dress in black or navy blue. Then again, I’ve also worn this during the day and it works well with some of my work wear.
Lastly, here is another online buy. This is an absolute favourite because it screams vintage! The 3D floral detail adds a very feminine element to my look and I love pairing this with a floral kurta or even a solid coloured tunic for a casual yet pretty day look. I should probably add that this is super light and does not weight down my ears at all. Super convenient in that sense and I simply love it.
For my Weekly Snap, I’m featuring an oh so favourite charm pair of earrings I had customized by Firefly.
This Facebook page is by a lady who makes her own jewellery pieces by hand, inclusive of beautiful and intricate charms, beads and wires. The charms that make up my earrings were a part of a longer pair of earrings so I contacted her and asked if I could have it with only the charm. A few days later, it was done and ready! How cute is it 😀
I had a fetish once for handmade jewellery. That was all I wore and was interesting in buying whenever I went shopping. This fetish has somehow toned down a bit over the years however but I do appreciate hand-crafted jewellery every now and then.
Recently I came across a new handmade jewellery brand that was initiated by a very close office colleague of mine. ALKE is all about jewellery, restoring and repairing your all time favourites. I’m not all too sure about the restoring and repairing part of her business but her handmade products are beautiful and truly one of a kind.
I love that her pieces of jewellery are unlike others found available here in Sri Lanka. Who would have thought a gold sprayed sea shell pendant necklace would look so cool with a day look? I just love this piece and perhaps will get my hands on it very soon!
I’m also a huge earrings fan and she makes these lovely woven thread earrings, that also go along the lines of having a ombre and mixed toned look. Her bead and wire pendants are a huge rave and I find them to be extremely chic because of the pop of colour beneath the wrapped around wire. The pearls are mixed in colour as well which add a very unique look to it on the whole.
I don’t usually wear much on my wrists but I do love the occasional bangle or two and her handmade ones are striking pieces. They’re made of woven thread around the circular hoop and then further topped with gold wire to give it an additional pop of colour and chicness. So cool!
So if you want to get your hands on any of these beauties, head over to her Facebook page and drop an inbox message or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org 🙂
Got myself a new pair of silver/metallic like earrings. My sister sends me the most amazing gifts and this is just one of them :)I haven’t seen them come back into style or whatever but I have always liked earrings with a 3D dimensional sort of effect and this pair is quite like that.
A girl’s got to have trinkets doesn’t she? My most favourite kind are earrings.
I don’t change them as often as I used to. A little over a year ago, I changed them every single day. Today I’ve stuck to a simple white gold and gold stud. That’s not what I’m featuring today however! I’m featuring one of my most favourite earrings – a turquoise blue pair I bought from Forever21.
I love the turquoise blue colours mixed with the light sea green in between. They aren’t a heavy pair either. As simple as it looks, I’m sadly not able to pair them with a lot of outfits but the occasional white or pastel ones. I’m not complaining though.
I can’t remember how much it cost me but I do know that it was worth the money. What have you bought from Forever21 and admire the most?
