Throwback to when my bestie and I had lunch at Chapter One. We picked the smoked Norwegian salmon as our appetizer and boy were we so glad! It was super flavorful and fresh, perfect with the cream cheese dill sauce and salad.

My berry iced tea on the other hand was a disappointment. Too strong and I had to dilute it multiple times with dollops of ice cubes. Not thrilled!

Black Cat Cafe

As random as today was gonna be, my friend called me over to check out this new cafe down the next street. As reluctant as I was, I decided to join her. I’m glad I did.

Run by a husband and wife, the place also includes a boutique store, a bookstore and b&b!

The menu at the cafe is very simple but I actually find that this works for these people because they give each item on it their best. I had the salmon on cream cheese sandwich with a soursop and lychee iced tea whilst my friend opted for a homemade ginger beer and portobello chicken and mushroom sandwich. We agreed that although the quantity was on the small side, the flavours and combination of fresh ingredients was really great. We then ordered a turkey and cranberry sauce sandwich which was a first for the both of us. Not my cup of tea but pretty good overall.

My Saturday :)

I woke as usual this morning; groggy and a little angry that it was 8am. I forced myself back to sleep and was back up by 10am. Still too early I thought in my head but then one of my besties buzzed me about my plans for the day. Of course I had no solid plans so I jumped the gun and said let’s do something. We got another one of my besties up as well and here’s a look at our day at t Lounge, Upali’s by Nawaloka, Flamingo House and the Viharamaha Devi Park!

You are asked to leave little love notes on the tables outside; I couldn’t think of anything fancy to write so I wrote an inspiring quote instead 😀

Iced tea fever

I’m a huge iced tea as many of you already know. My country is famous for its tea and well it might sound very typical of me to be a fan but I’m more of a flavoured iced tea fan so please don’t judge me 😉

Coco Veranda, one of my favourite hangouts recently introduced a range of flavoured iced teas and I thought I’d give a flavour a week a try. Monday morning I happened to have an interview scheduled in the same building so I decided to have the peach and orange iced tea to go. Truthfully speaking I did not like it very much even after many stirs and adding more water back at home. I notified the cafe/restaurent manager and he asked me to come back for a complementary iced tea of my choice.

I headed back on Tuesday. My husband and his two cousins joined us and I decided to go for the blueberry and vanilla iced tea. It was fabulous. I love the berry flavour at the back of my tongue after one sip and the light lingering vanilla flavour fused with the tea in it. Great combination I must say I’d definitely be going in for some more soon.

Here’s a pic of the iced tea –
