Lime green saree look

Keeping my look minimal
Keeping my look minimal

This is quite typical of me but I love sarees! There’s something so beautiful and stylish about six yards of fabric and I can’t get over the amazing varieties you find everywhere. It’s my go-to for most family weddings and homecomings and my family had so many over the past two weeks so I thought I’d make a quick post of what I wore to the first of the many that followed.

This saree was a gift to me by my mother-in-law. It’s a beautiful lime green shaded one with silver rhinestones thrown in the shades area and borders. I love that it also includes a bit of orange, something that is often not paired enough with green and that the rhinestones don’t make the fabric so heavy on the body. There are multiple ways of wearing a saree and this one is particular is simply draped normally and then made to fall gracefully over my left shoulder. That is called the ‘fall’ of the saree. Usually this too is draped and pinned to the shoulder but I occasionally like to wear it this way too.

I kept my accessories at a minimal, with short kitten heels in a metallic colour, my Burberry watch, a stringy bracelet and a platinum set of earrings and necklace, which unfortunately didn’t fit into the frame and I forgot to take a photograph of.

So, what do you girls think?

Weekly Snap

Chudiya

It’s been a busy week with Eid celebrated last Tuesday and my cousin’s wedding today. I know it’s not an excuse to put up a few blog posts but here’s my Weekly Snap for the beginning of August.

These are my favourite silver bangles aka chudiya in Hindi that my mother’s friend gifted to me from India. They’re not all too fancy so they make it ideal for daily casual wear.

New buy and then some…

Ramadan is almost over and Eid will be celebrated tomorrow, so I wanted to go and get myself a pretty little bauble. I’m not one to splurge all too much on jewellery because I feel like they go out of trend all too often and sometimes don’t always complement my outfits. I am therefore very careful and picky with my selections. However, the idea this time was to find a stringy kind of long necklace, preferably with a large pendant of some sort. I know that for the most part when one is picky and too choosy, you’ll never find what you want but one of the online jewellery stores I shop at in Colombo was hosting a sale and I thought I should head over and see if they’d have something suitable for me.

Dressup is an online store that offers vintage jewellery, baubles, trinkets and more. I’ve shopped with them on multiple occasions have not been disappointed with my purchases. Most of their items are sourced from abroad so you know you’re getting a quality product that’s worth the price.

Here’s a look at what I recently purchased over the weekend! I absolutely love it! It was more than perfect because it fitted the ideology of what I wanted. My darling husband was more than kind to buy it as a gift for me which made it all the more better. It’s got a long gold strand necklace and a large filigree like leaf pendant at the end of it. It’s not the too heavy kind which I’m happy about it as well and has a very contemporary feel to it more than a vintage. I can’t wait to pair it with some outfits in the future.

I’ve bought necklaces from Dressup before as well so I thought I’ll give you guys a look at them.

3D pair

Got myself a new pair of silver/metallic like earrings. My sister sends me the most amazing gifts and this is just one of them :)I haven’t seen them come back into style or whatever but I have always liked earrings with a 3D dimensional sort of effect and this pair is quite like that.
